Camila Valdez (1984) is an industrial designer and artist from Buenos Aires, Argentina, who blends both of her professions to create sweet anthropomorphic sculptures in real and human sizes.
Her sculptures are inspired by the hidden aesthetics of everyday products. Objects express their feelings to Camila through their colors, shapes, and styles. Through her perception, she explores their particular appearance and existence.
When constructing her anthropomorphic sweet treats, Camila conveys physical expression and meaning to inanimate items of interest by giving them human-like poses, thus connecting both worlds: “ours” and “theirs.” Another unique aspect of her sculptures is that she encourages dressing them up and changing their outfits seasonally, inviting us to enter their whimsical universe and exchange lively experiences with them.
Camila Valdez was honored for five consecutive years by the National Salon of Visual Arts in Argentina, starting in 2013. In 2016, her sculpture “Do not Donut” received a Mention Diploma. Her artworks have been exhibited alongside great masters like Salvador Dalí and Wayne Thiebaud in California. She has participated internationally in exhibitions at distinguished institutions, including museums, cultural centers, art galleries, public government venues, and educational entities.
