Fred Eversley, a pioneering artist of the Light and Space movement, has passed away at 83. Before becoming a sculptor, Eversley worked as an aerospace engineer at NASA, focusing on high-energy technology used in space exploration. In the late 1960s, he shifted to art, using his technical expertise to create mesmerizing resin sculptures that explore light, color, and perception. His highly polished, lens-like forms became signature works within the movement. Eversley’s art has been exhibited in major institutions, including the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum, solidifying his legacy as a groundbreaking figure in both science and art.
