Jorge Jiménez Deredia Costa Rican, 1954
209.9 x 217.8 x 199.7 cm
"I remember when I was nine years old and I went to the National Museum of Costa Rica and saw for the first time the Pre-Columbian stone spheres there. I still retain the image of those spheres placed from the smallest to the largest. With time I came to understand that I had a cultural heritage linked to these spheres. Accordingly the sculpture ‘Heritage’ holds a large sphere in its arms, that is the grand cultural heritage of all Costa Ricans, and which is bound to a spherical vision of the world."
