Robert Indiana Americano, 1928-2018
66 x 66 x 5.1 cm
Robert Indiana called HOPE “the long-awaited sibling of LOVE.”
Like love, hope can be a noun or a verb—a feeling, an aspiration, or an invocation to envision a better world.
Indiana was very politically and socially involved throughout his career and was happy to use his art as a symbol for positive change.
He continued to promote the ideal of hope for the rest of his life.
October 14, 2014 was declared International HOPE Day in honor of the artist’s birthday, with events held worldwide.
